A Pair of Early Holster Pistols by Turvey of London. With long ribbed barrels stamped at the breeches with London proofs and Turkey’s own barrel smith mark, border engraved tangs decorated with foliage, border engraved rounded locks signed in capitals ‘W. TURVEY’ cocks decorated en suite, figured slender full-stocks each with raised foliate aprons around the tangs, gilt brass mounts comprising pierced scrolling foliate side-plates, border engraved spurred pommels each cast and chased with a grotesque mask centred on a geometric border, brass trigger guards decorated with flower heads on the bows and foliate finials, engraved escutcheons depicting a swan with a crown around its neck, turned ramrod pipes, with brass tipped ramrods with worms.
