An Untouched Flintlock Blunderbuss by Ketland & Co, London. With octagonal to round three-stage barrel, belled at the muzzle, engraved ‘LONDON’ and stamped with Tower of London private proofs, simple foliate engraved tang and screw, signed border engraved lock, full-stocked in walnut with raised apron around the tang, engraved brass furniture comprising side-plate, butt cap and trigger guard decorated with a flower on the bow and an acanthus leaf finial, brass ramrod pipes and original brass tipped ramrod with worm, the blunderbuss also retains its original sling swivels and what appears to be its original material sling. In completely untouched condition. One of the nicest examples I’ve seen in years.

Succeeded by James Ketland. It is not clear which members of the family continued this firm whose name with ‘LONDON’ appears on many export guns and locks. At least one directory entry shows W.
