Robert Apprentice to Edward Newton, gunmaker, Grantham, Lincs, 1748. Gunmaker at Mr Maw’s haberdasher, Cockspur Street, Charing Cross, 1764; Haymarket, 1774-1802. With John Barton traded as Wogdon & Barton, from 1795, succeeded by Barton, 1803. Famous for duelling pistols. Poem, Stanzas on Duelling, by an Irish Volunteer, 1783, began ‘Hail Wogden, Patron of that Leaden death….’
