An Exceptional Cased Double Barrel Percussion Pistol by J. Purdey of London, No. 846. With browned sighted barrels signed in full along the central rib, ‘PURDEY PRINCES STREET LEICESTER SQUARE LONDON’ case-hardened breech block, profusely engraved tang, signed locks with sliding safety catches decorated with scrolling foliage, beautifully engraved cocks, half-stocked in walnut (small scratch to one side) cut with fine chequering at the grip, profusely engraved blued furniture comprising butt cap, trigger guard, decorated with stands of arms on the bow and stylised pineapple finial, brass tipped wooden ramrod; in its original wooden lined and fitted case, with all accessories including powder flask, loading rod, turn screw etc. An outstanding set.
