An English Mortuary Hilted Backsword, Circa1640. With single edged tapering blade cut with two long deep fullers running along the back edge for almost the entire length of the blade, stamped within the fullers the blade smiths mark ‘ X X ANDREA X X FERARA X X, pierced steel basket hilted guard, chiselled and pierced with scrolling foliage and masks, knuckle bow and side-guards decorated en-suite, with bud-shaped pommel, with original wire grip including two Turks-heads.
