A 1796 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Troopers Sword by Craven. With straight single edged blade with spear point, stamped with Military inspection marks and stamped with the makers name along the back edge, steel hilt with pierced circular guard adapted in the field, wooden grip overlaid with leather (wire binding now missing) complete with an original steel scabbard with two hanging rings. The back-strap is cut with nine notches (possibly indicating kills) A fine example of a scarce sword.
