An English Mortuary Hilted Backsword, Circa1640. With single edged tapering blade cut with two long deep fullers running along the back edge for almost the entire length of the blade, stamped within the fullers the blade smiths mark ‘ X X ANDREA X X FERARA X X, and also stamped with what appears to be an armourers mark at the forte, pierced steel basket hilted guard, chiselled and pierced with scrolling foliage, knuckle bow and side-guards decorated en-suite, with bud-shaped pommel, with original wire grip including (unwound) and two Turks-heads.
