Composed of a central plate over the cap of the shoulder, above which a small plate is articulated by two rivets which are pierced for attachment to a gorget with spring pins. Below each main plate are three lames, articulating on sliding rivets at the rear, and internal leathers at the centre and front. Below these lames are gutter shaped upper cannons. the two uppermost plates have sunken bands and file-cut roped turned edges. All external rivets are brass capped.
