A fine 16 bore percussion holster pistol built for the East India Government in 1873. The blued barrel is struck with Birmingham inspectors marks and Tower of London military proof marks, and what appears to be an Indian mark, The bore still retains its original bright polish. The walnut full-stock is struck with the Birmingham inspectors mark, the stockmakers ‘JOSEPH SMITH’ and the Birmingham E.I.G. storekeepers stamp. The colour case hardened lock is stamped Birmingham 1873 and with a crowned broad arrow above E.I.G. together with a Birmingham inspectors stamp. The pistol is fitted with regulation brass mounts, a swivel ramrod and lanyard ring.
