A Fine and Rare Smallsword with Damascened Hilt, made in Northern India for the European Market, Circa 1770. With browned steel hilt, finely damascened overall in gold with flowers and scrolling foliage, comprising an oval guard decorated en suite and with owners initials H. H. with a Scottish Earls Coronet above, knuckle bow and quillons of oval section, with urn shaped pommel, solid steel grip decorated with scrolling foliage, with unusual blue and gilt panel leading to a wavy blade, decorated with scrolling foliage and stands of arms. An outstanding smallsword in exceptional condition.
