An unusual pair of Percussion Duelling Pistols

An unusual pair of Percussion Duelling Pistols by Hollis of London. With sighted octagonal re-browned barrels, signed ‘London’ in Gothic script along the top flats and fitted with rear sights towards the breech, foliate engraved breeches with double gold lines, profusely engraved tangs, foliate engraved back-action locks, fitted with sliding safety catches, foliate engraved cocks (one a replacement) half-stocked in walnut, one a saw-handle stock, the other more usual style, cut with chequering at the grips, horn fore-end caps, engraved steel mounts comprising spurred trigger guards, decorated with foliage on the bows, turned ramrod pipes (one a replacement) with brass tipped wooden ramrods.

Richard Two gunmakers of this name, at Birmingham, apparently marked guns ‘London’, c. 1820-1845.
