An Unusual Flintlock Carbine
With slightly swamped round barrel, signed ‘GRIFFIN LONDON’ within an elogated tear-drop border, stamped with London proofs and Griffins own barrel smith mark, border engraved tang decorated with scrolling foliage, stepped bevelled lock, signed ‘PROBIN’ and fitted with a sliding safety catch, full stocked in walnut, with an unusual ‘pinch’ in the stock in the fore-end, with brass foliate side-plate, trigger guard decorated with a flower head on the bow and acorn finial, brass ramrod pipes and original brass tipped ramrod with worm. Unusually the carbine has now butt-plate. There are no traces of it ever having one.
