An English ‘Mortuary’ Hilted Backsword. With narrow single edged blade, double-edged at the point, some nicks along the cutting edge from use, iron hilt comprising solid guard chiselled masks on each side amid symmetrical scrolling foliage, all against a chiselled ground, short scrolled wrist-guard, knuckle guard flanked by two diagonal bars linked to the bifurcated side-bars and chiselled with foliage, the top of the knuckle-guard and side-bars screwed to a globular pommel with button, wire bound grip with two Turks heads.
