An English Civil War Period Breast-Plate
An English Civil War Period Breast-Plate, Mid 17th Century. Of steel and with rounded projection at the front above a short flanged skirt pinched at the centre, the neck and arms with plain turns followed by incised lines, and with two staples for shoulder straps.
Notes:
Interestingly this breastplate has been engraved with a Crowned ‘C’ ‘R’ either side of the medial ridge, with punched decoration and what appears to be a ‘2’ to the left and ’TN’ to the right.
