An East India Government Pistol

A fine 16 bore percussion holster pistol built for the East India Government in 1867. The blued barrel is struck with Birmingham inspectors marks and Birmingham proof marks, and the bore still retains its original bright polish. The walnut fullstock is struck with the Birmingham inspectors mark, the stockmakers “JOSEPH SMITH” and the Birmingham E.I.G. storekeepers stamp. The colour case hardened lock is stamped Birmingham 1862 and with a crowned broad arrow above E.I.G. together with a Birmingham inspectors stamp. The pistol is fitted with regulation brass mounts, a swivel ramrod and lanyard ring.
