Circa 1805.

Note: The Paget, or 1805 Pattern Short Light Cavalry, carbine takes its name from General Henry William Paget, Earl of Uxbridge and subsequently 1st Marquess of Anglesey, (1768-1854), who is credited, by a number of sources, with its design.  He was Master General of the Board of Ordnance from 1827 to 1828, and from 1846 to 1852.

This carbine is almost certainly one of a number acquired as “new old stock” from Woolwich Arsenal when much of its contents was sold in the 1960s.”
