A Superb Purdey Retailed 54 Bore Adams Percussion Revolver, No. 13666. With sighted octagonal border engraved barrel, decorated with a band at the muzzle, top flat engraved, ‘I PURDEY 314 1/2 OXFORD STT LONDON’, case-hardened five shot cylinder engraved with foliate border at the front edge, stamped ‘No. 13666 R’ and with London proofs, frame also stamped ‘No. 13666 R’ and ‘D.A. & D. 54’ trigger guard and butt cap and trap profusely engraved with scrolling foliage, retaining most original finish throughout (some small losses to the left side of barrel where it has laid in case). In a lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including bullet mould, powder flask, etc. the interior of the lid with Deane Adams & Deane trade label, the exterior of the lid with vacant circular brass escutcheon.
Notes:
This revolver has an exceptionally rare transitional frame.
