Of production specifications, with wooden fore-stock and butt, with round sighted barrel, retained by two barrel bands, fitted with ladder sight, steel action stamped with a spread-eagle and ‘U.S. SPRINGFIELD 1872’ and ‘MODEL 1871’ on the other side, the wood stamped with military inspection mark and ‘6’.
