A Six Shot Pepperbox Revolver
An 80 Bore Percussion Six-Shot Pepperbox Revolver by A. Thomson, Edinburgh. With rounded barrels each engraved around the muzzle, border engraved white metal action with nipple-shield, decorated with scrolling foliage and signed within an oval on one side, bar-hammer and trigger guard decorated en suite, the former with thumbpiece safety catch, ovoidal pommel-cap with hinged circular butt-trap cover engraved with flower hear, finely chequered rounded butt with vacant silver escutcheon, Birmingham proofs.
Alexander Thomson is recorded at various address in Edinburgh between 1840 and the year of his death in 1871.
