A Shoken school tanto by Kunimune circa 1864
The slender hira-zukuri blade in good polish with a nagasa (cutting edge) of 23.5cm, muji hada with a suguha hamon. The nakago (tang) with one mekugi-ana (peg hole) and signed “KUNIMUNE”. The koshirae with small Mokko form iron tsuba, shakudo fuchi-kashira and gilded menuki in the form of doves underneath its original jabara-ito binding. The Saya finished in red and black lacquer.
