A Scarce National Arms Co. Derringer. With sighted barrel pivoting to the left for loading and stamped, ‘NATIONAL ARMS Co. BROOKLYN. N.Y.’ along the top-flat, rounded silvered action engraved with foliage on each side, chequered spur trigger, and partly chequered bird’s head grips, numbered ‘5078’.

National Arms Company, Brooklyn, New York, Single Shot No.2 Derringer Pistol. Made circa 1865 to 1870. Total quantity estimated at 12,000.
Purchased by Colt in 1870 who continued to manufacture and produce this model under their own name.
