A Scarce Heavy Dragoon by Willmore, Circa 1730. With round tapering barrel engraved WILLMORE LONDON, and stamped with London proofs and Foreigners mark, plain tang, plain banana shaped lock, engraved WILLMORE, full-stocked in walnut with swelling fore-end and relief panels at lock and tang, brass furniture comprising pierced side-plate, long eared butt cap, plain trigger guard and ramrod pipes, the pistol has also been cut for shoulder stock. A rare an interesting example.

Allowed to prove guns as a ‘foreigner’ 1721-31; challenged to produce proof of apprenticeship, and premises searched by Gunmakers Co., 1732-40. Son, John apprentice, to him in Gunmakers C0., 1740. At the Horse Guards, appointed Gun Maker in Ordinary to George II; George III, 1761. ‘Moved to Horse Guards to Duke St., Westmisnster, where received allowance in lieu of Lodgings c.1750. Last reference 1760.
