A Rare Victorian Irish Constabulary Pistol. With round barre stamped with Irish registration mark, ‘C-296’ London proofs and various other marks, engraved action, ‘TOWER 1848’ to the right and crowned VR to the left, swelling figured walnut butt with ordnance mark to the left, and with its original stirrup ramrod.
Notes:
The Inspector of Small Arms, George Lovell, ordered 500 of these pistols for use by the Officers of the Irish Constabulary in 1847.
