A Percussion Pocket Pistol by Evans of London. With round turn-off barrel, decorated with a band at the muzzle, stamped beneath with Birmingham proofs, rounded box-lock action, signed, ‘Evans’ at the breech, foliate engraved side-panels, sliding safety catch, folding trigger, swelling walnut butt inlaid with silver wire scrollwork and engraved with silver foliage, engraved lions-head butt-cap, with vacant silver escutcheon.
John, Engine, Lathe& Tool Maker, 10 Wardour St., 1819-36. Became John Evans & Son, 1837-50; John & William James Evans, 1851-63. Made revolvers for E. H. Collier, 1821-2. Contractor to Ordnance, 1833-53; East India Co. 1842-52.
