A Percussion Back-Action Belt Pistol by Lang of London. With sighted octagonal barrel, stamped with London proofs and fitted beneath with a captive ramrod, foliate engraved breech, profusely engraved tang, with border engraved back-action lock, decorated with scrolling foliage and fitted with a sliding safety catch, half-stocked in walnut cut with chequering at the grip, square escutcheon engraved with the original owners crest, ovoid butt cap with trap, steel side-plate fitted with belt hook.

Became Joseph Lang & Sons, eventually amalgamating with Stephen Grant, Exhibited 4 and 6 barrel revolvers, Great Exhibition, 1851. Popularised the pin-fire breechloader. Died 1869.
