A Good Purdey Sporting ‘Small’ Rifle, No. 1296 for 1827. With browned octagonal sighted barrel, singed in full along the top-flat, leaf sighted from ’50’ to ‘100’ yard, each leaf with central gold line, recessed border engraved patent breech with single platinum line and pierced platinum plug engraved with a rosette, tang profusely engraved with scrolling foliage and retaining much original colour, profusely engraved flat lock, signed beneath the blued safety catch, figured half-stock with cheek piece, chequered grip and fore-end, the latter with dark fore-end cap, bored engraved steel mounts comprising beautifully engraved butt-trap retaining most original colour, butt plate and spur trigger guard (engraving worn) and with brass mounted ramrod.
