A Flintlock Tinder Lighter by Wallis of Hull, circa 1790. With flat sided walnut butt, brass box-lock action, engraved ‘WALLIS’ within an oval to the left and decorated with foliage to the right, oval brass pan, with curving arm topped by a cast and waisted brass candle socket, all raised on a lyre-shaped stand with two curving feet.

Made box-lock flintlock pocket pistols with silver butt caps, and three- barrel flintlock coach pistols with single hammer and pan, barrel hand rotated. On some of his pieces the under spring bayonet was released by sliding back the trigger guard. Shop at Hull, Yorkshire.
