A Flintlock Queen Anne Pistol by Griffin & Tow. With three-stage cannon barrel, decorated with a geometric band at the breech end, engraved ‘LONDON’ in script and stamped with London proofs, signed on the top of the barrel ‘GRIFFIN & TOW’ on a semicircular banner, decorated with stands of arms beneath, waisted border engraved tang decorated with foliage, border engraved action, cock decorated with a spray of foliage, trigger guard decorated with a flower head on the bow, swelling figured walnut butt, cast and chased mounts comprising pierced side plate, depicting a stand of arms, vacant armorial escutcheon and what appears to be an angel surrounded by flags on the butt-cap. The butt cap struck with makers mark.
