A Flintlock Turn-Off Pistol, with short three-stage cannon barrel, engraved breech and tang, the former signed below the pan, border engraved action (cock a working replacement – small crack to rear), engraved trigger guard and globose figured walnut butt carved with a shell behind the barrel tang, by Joseph Buckmaster, London. London proofs marks, circa 1750.

This pistol was part of the Wilfrid Ward Collection of Antique Firearms that was sold through Christies on the 27th October 1993 – Lot 54. A copy of the original sale catalogue accompanies this pistol.
