A Flintlock Officers Pistol

A Superb Flintlock Officers Pistol by Staudenmayer of London. With sighted octagonal barrel signed ‘London’ along the top flat retaining some original browning with platinum line and touch—hole, foliate engraved tang fitted with rear sight, signed, border engraved lock with sliding safety catch, French style cock, full-stocked in walnut and cut with chequering at the grip, engraved steel trigger guard decorated with a stand of arms on the bow and a stylised pineapple finial, captive steel ramrod.

Samuel Henry Former apprentice to John Manton. Gunmaker, 35 Jermyn Street, 1799; 35 Cocksure Street, 1802-14; 32 Cocksure Street, 1814-25. Will presented 1825. Business continued up to 1834. Gunmaker to Prince of Wales & Duke of York. Noted maker of rifles and repeating airguns.
