A Fine 22-Bore Flintlock Duelling Pistol by Rigby of Dublin. With sighted, slightly swamped barrel, stamped with Rigby’s gold poincon, ‘RIGBY over a crowned harp and DUBLIN’ fitted with standing rear-sight, decorated with a geometric band at the breech and fitted with a gold touch-hole, beautifully engraved barrel tang and screw, stepped bevelled lock signed in script, ‘Rigby Dublinu Fecit’ fitted with gold-lined rainproof pan, full-stocked in walnut with slab sided butt, completed with soldi silver mounts comprising a small oval side-plate under the cup for the lock screw, with chains of flowers and foliage on either side, border engraved foliate butt cap, hallmarked for 1788 and makers mark TJ for Thomas Jones, crisp silver trigger guard again stamped with hallmarks and TJ makers mark, decorated with a flowers head on the bow and acorn finial, turned silver ramrod pipes, with original wooden ramrod with worm and powder-loading tip. A fine and incredibly scarce pistol.

I believe this pistol to be the pair to the Rigby duelling pistol at the National Museum of Ireland, inventory number – HA:1986.7
