A D.Egg Percussion Pistol

A Percussion Officers Pistol by D. Egg, London. With browned twist octagonal sighted barrel signed LONDON along the top flat, foliate scroll engraved case-hardened breech with gold line, foliate engraved tang fitted with rear-sight, signed flat lock and dolphin hammer all decorated en suite, figured full stock with chequered rounded butt, the latter with border engraved rounded cap, trigger guard with pineapple finial and decorated with foliate scrollwork on the border of the engraved bow, vacant white metal escutcheon, captive ramrod.

Durs (Exors of) George Frederick Egg (son) & Frederick Nicholls Devey (son-in-law) Gunmakers, 1 Pall Mall Colonnade, London 1832-37. Business run by John Egg, his advert in Bells Life in London (9 Dec 1832) pledged to maintain the long standing reputation of the name.
