A Cased 120-Bore Tranter Patent Five-Shot Self-Cocking Percussion Revolver Retailed By Lane of Leamington, No. 14487.T. Circa 1860. With blued sighted barrel engraved around the muzzle and with scrolling foliage on each side, border engraved top-strap with retailer’s name and address, blued frame, case-hardened butt-cap and trigger-guard all en suite, case-hardened engraved cylinder with knurled forward edge, bright patent double-trigger, hammer and engraved patent rammer, blued sprung safety-stop and arbor-pin catch, chequered figured rounded butt, and most of its original finish: in lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including Dixon & Sons powder-flask and brass bullet mould, both in fine condition, the exterior of the lid with circular vacant brass escutcheon.

General gunsmith in Birmingham and later established offices in London. Took out his first Royal Patent in 1853 for a percussion revolver. This revolver had two trigger, one for cocking the hammer and one for firing or double action. For single action use trigger only. In 1856 he took out an improved patent which eliminated the second trigger and used one trigger for double action. Three models were made. Trainer received a Royal Government contract in 1858 for Dragoon and Navy Models.
