A Beautiful Little Cased Percussion Pistol
With round blued turn-off barrel, decorated with a foliate band at the muzzle, stamped below with Birmingham proofs, double border line engraved gilt-brass box-lock action, decorated with scrolling foliage on both panels fitted with a sliding safety catch that locks the hammer at half cock, finely chequered walnut butt, with shield shape escutcheon, engraved with a serpents head, small oval silver butt cap: in its original lined and fitted case, with barrel key and two empty compartments, possibly for percussion caps and ball. The exterior of the box is red leather, the box is secured with two brass catches. A fine little example.
