An Early Queen Anne Pistol by Le Maire, London. With round three-stage turn-off cannon barrel, engraved ‘LE MARIE’ at the breech and stamped below with London proofs and barrel smiths mark, decorated with scrolling foliage, trigger, frame decorated throughout with scrolling foliage, frozen decorated en suite, foliate engraved tang, fixed with two screws, rounded swelling moulded butt with raised apron around the tang. A scarce pistol.

John or Jean Naturalised, 1710. Gunmaker to George I, 1719. Probably the gunmaker who used barrels by Israel Segalas c, 1720, and was allowed to prove guns by Gunmakers Co. As a ‘foreigner’ 1728.
