A Fine .44 Rim Fire Revolver by Daw of London. With round sighted barrel, stamped with Birmingham proofs beneath, plain frame, engraved, ‘G.H. DAW 57 THREADNEEDLE ST. LONDON’ on the top strap, plain six-shot cylinder stamped with Birmingham proofs, fitted with patent ejector stamped ‘410’ and hinged cartridge loading gate, finely chequered walnut grip, with steel butt cap and lanyard ring, steel trigger guard. In absolutely outstanding condition overall, retaining almost all of the original finish; in its original lined and fitted case, with loading rod and oil bottle, the lid with Daws label, the exterior of the lid with flush fitting vacant circular escutcheon.

Daw, George H. (1780-1840)
General gunsmith at 57 Threadneedle Street, London. Name changed to G.H. Daw & Co. 1840 to 1849, custom gunmakers and dealers. They made cased double action percussion revolvers, .44 calibre, with loading accessories. Became Witton & Daw 189 to 1878, and G.H. Daw & Son 1878 to 1889, then the Daw Gun Company 1889 to 1892.
