A Double Barrel Flintlock Pistol engraved Farmer, London. With round turn-off barrels (frozen) border engraved octagonal barrel block, stamped below with London proofs and barrel smiths mark, border engraved box-lock action, engraved ‘FARMER’ to the left and, ‘LONDON’ to the right, two separate flint cocks, swelling walnut butt inlaid with silver wire scroll. Large trigger guard decorated with a sun-burst on the bow.

Farmer
James born 1715 son of Joseph Farmer, gunmaker of Birmingham. Formed partnership with brother-in-law, Samuel Galton, became contractors to Ordnance. James worked in London, c/ 1748-65. Returned to Birmingham, died 1773.
