An Italian Swept-Hilt Rapier, First Half of the 17th Century. With slender tapering blade cut with a short fuller running both sides of the blade and cut with the running wolf of Solingen, ricasso of rectangular section, iron hilt of rounded bars comprising straight quillons, three-ring outer guard joining at the knuckle-guard, lower ring guard with two additional rings above and rooted to a pair of arms, trifurcated inner-guard with thumb-loop, polygonal pommel, spirally fluted wire-bound grip.
