An Outstanding Flintlock Baker Rifle, 1823 Pattern. With browned twist sighted barrel rifled with seven grooves (good bore) and with bayonet-bar on the right of the muzzle, stamped with ordnance proofs and inspection marks, plain tang stamped with a crown, signed border engraved rounded lock with crowned GR and military inspection mark and signed ‘Rl My ENFIELD’ across the tail, full stocked in walnut with cheekpiece, stamped with numerous military inspector marks throughout, brass mounts of regulation pattern including hinged rectangular patch-box cover, spur trigger guard, fore-end cap and ramrod-pipes, vacant brass escutcheon and steel ramrod.
Notes:
This is the finest Baker rifle I have ever come across. It retains much original finish and appears in relatively unused condition. The gun even retains its original tools in its patch-box. A truly outstanding example!
