An Outstanding Cased .577 Percussion 1853 Pattern Third Model Presentation Prize Rifle. Stamped L.A.C. for the London Armoury Company, Dated 1861. With blued sighted barrel, rifled with three grooves, retained by three blued barrel bands, calibrated adjustable back-sight, chained nipple protector, dated flat lock stamped L.A.Co and with VR crowned at the tail, figured three-quarter stock with silver plaque on the butt engraved with the presentation inscription, regulation brass mounts, sling loops, original steel ramrod, in fine condition overall. Complete with its highly unusual original transit case. Example likes this rarely come on the market. 


The presentation inscription reads: 15th Shropshire Rifle Volunteers, This Rifle Was Won By Corp. Wm. Thomas, as the Best Shot at 200 & 400 Yards, 26th Oct 1861. 


London Armoury Co. [1856-1880]

Formed by John and Robert Adams and John Kerr with the help of out-side capital. Under Royal Government contracts made Beaumont-Adams percussion revolvers and the Kerr Patent (December 1858) percussion revolvers. Later made the same models in metallic cartridge revolvers. Plant located at 24 Holborn, London.
