A Mortuary Hilted Broadsword, Circa 1640.
An English Mortuary Hilted Broadsword, Circa 1640. With double edged tapering blade, cut with a short narrow fuller and engraved, ‘6 6 6’ within the fuller on both sides and a Solingen blade smiths mark, chiselled steel basket hilted guard, decorated with scrolls and masks, foliate pommel, with original wire-bound fish-skin grip including two Turks-heads.
