An Early Steel-Barrelled English Lock Blunderbuss by Grieves, 17th Century. With massive octagonal to round barrel flared at the muzzle, struck with London proofs and indistinct barrel smiths mark, plain iron tang, flat lock decorated with foliage and with pointed tail, retained by three side-nails, full stocked in walnut (some old repairs and areas of wood missing) bras mounts throughout comprising serpent engraved side-plate, engraved brass butt-plate secured by iron tacks, simple brass escutcheon, brass trigger guard with pointed finials, single baluster brass ramrod pipe, with iron ramrod. An exceptionally rare blunderbuss. 


Greeves John Apprenticed to Robert Silke, turned over to Henry Bond, in Gunmakers Co., 1731.
