An 1821 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Sword. With single edged slightly curved pipe-back blade, double edged towards the point, etched within panels with foliage and crowned VR cypher and a family crest and moto (a folder of research accompanies this sword) regulation steel scroll hilt with wire bound fish-skin grip, in its original steel scabbard with two suspension rings. 

The sword was formerly the property of Col. Thomas Arthur, 3rd Dragoon Guards.
