An excellent example of a WW1 Artillery Officers sword with an exceptional blade. 35” (89.5cm) slightly curved single edged blade with rounded back and spear point. The blade is single edged except for the last 8” and has been combat sharpened. The blade is etched on the one side with the crowned royal coat of arms in a garter strap with the royal motto above the crowned cypher for George V above the motto of the Royal Artillery – Ubique above a cannon, extensive foliate strapwork and acanthus decoration, royal appointment mark and maker's name. On the other side the winged thunderbolts and legend Royal Artillery, extensive foliate strapwork and acanthus decoration and brass proofmark. The back of the blade is numbered 46085.


Three bar steel hilt with rearward quillon, flat cross hatched back piece, stepped pommel with circular flattened tang button. Fishskin grip bound with silver wire.
