A Superb Pair of Silver Mounted Flintlock Cannon Barrel Pistols by T. Richards, Circa 1770. With round three-stage turn-off cannon barrels, stamped at the breech with London proofs and the ‘Foreigners’ mark, deeply engraved actions decorated with scrolling foliage and signed ’T. RICHARDS’ on a scroll, swelling figured walnut butts (repairs to woodwork) and inlaid with silver wire rococo ornament throughout, cast and chased silver mounts comprising grotesque butt cap, and foliate escutcheons engraved with a beehive. In good crisp condition overall.
