A Superb Flintlock Blunderbuss by Hewson of London. With swelling brass barrel, engraved ‘HEWSON - LONDON’ on the top flat and stamped with London proofs at the breech, decorated with a band of foliage at the breech, tang decorated with foliage, border engraved stepped lock, signed ‘HEWSON’ beneath the pan, full-stocked in walnut cut with a band of chequering at the grip, with engraved brass mounts comprising butt cap decorated with a shield surrounded by flags, engraved trigger guard decorated with a shield surrounded by foliage on the bow, with pineapple finial, turned ramrod pipes, with original horn tipped ramrod. In fine original condition.
