A Superb Exeter Revenue Carbine marked for H. L. Grove. With round sighted barrel, fitted at the muzzle with bayonet lug, engraved ‘CITY OF EXETER’ and stamped with Birmingham proofs, plain case-hardened tang, plain lock signed ‘WESTLEY RICHARDS’ and ‘EXETER REVENUE’ fitted with a sliding safety catch, retains much finish, full-stocked in walnut with two barrel keys, regulation style brass mounts comprising butt-cap, trigger guard - signed with the original owners name - and ramrod pipes, original brass tipped ramrod. A superb condition overall. 


Notes:

The previous owner researched H. L. Grove and found that he was a Customs Officer in the 1850s. He lived in Topsham not far from Exeter.
