A Superb English Rapier, ex. Eric Valentine Collection. With heavy slender blade of oval section flattened at the tip, inlaid with a mark in copper and stamped, ‘ANDRA FERARA’ within the short fuller at the forte on one side and ‘ANDRIA FERARA’ on the other, the hilt with waved cup-guard reinforced by scrolled bars joining the knuckle-guard, pierced with triangles and chiselled with petals enclosing small diamond shaped panels pierced with stars and circles, horizontally recurved quills with disc tips and wooden grip, binding missing. Circa 1630-1640.
