A Silver Mounted Flintlock Holster Pistol by Delaney. With round tapering barrel, indistinctly engraved along the top, plain tang, border engraved lock, decorated with scrolling foliage at the tail and signed ‘Delaney’ in script, replacement cock, full-stocked in walnut with raised mouldings around the tang and lock, with pierced silver side-plate, silver escutcheon and grotesque mask, trigger guard engraved with a stand of arms on the bow and stand of arms finial, silver ramrod pipes with original bone tipped ramrod (the worm has snapped off). A good honest flintlock pistol.

Henry Gunmaker, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, free of Gunmakers Co. by redemption, 1715. At ‘the Cross Guns in Long Acre’, 1718. Pair of Dutch pistols seized from him by Gunmakers Co., 1721. Proved 1152 muskets, 105 pairs of pistols and 8 musketoons, 1721-31. Had James Walemsly at the Green Man, Dame St., Dublin indicted as ‘a Fraud and a Cheat’ for selling arms falsely marked with his name, 1730.
Maker of fine breechloading sporting guns and silver mounted pistols; also a large crossbow with built in cranequin (Bath Colln. Longleat).
