A Rare Royal Forester’s 1760/78 Pattern Flintlock Light Dragoon Pistol. With round barrel marked in the centre of the breech with two ordnance marks, a crown on the barrel tang and a crown over 4 on barrel right of the touch hole. Flat lock plate with double line border; marked Tower on tail and with engraved crown over GR cypher in the centre of the lock plate along with Ordnance stamp. Full-stocked in walnut with raised apron around the tang, stamped with inspection marks and dated ‘1786’ (It appears that there has been a crack to the wrist which has been fixed during its working life by putting a screw through the escutcheon - see pictures). Stamped with inspection marks in the ramrod channel. Brass furniture throughout comprising long eared butt-cap, side-plate, escutcheon and trigger guard.
